Mixtec Stonecutting Broadcasted at UACJ TV

The TV channel of the UACJ recently broadcasted an interview with Professor Benjamin Ibarra. The weekly TV show “Entre Amigos” featured  Professor Ibarra talking about his research work and the historic monuments he studies. The tv show focused on three sixteenth-century buildings located in Mexico, revealing to the audience the main features and their importance in the Mexican historic architecture context. TV UACJ 44.3 , has a varied programing ranging from news to information covering science, humanities, technology, children, arts and crafts. It belongs to the network of cultural and educational television and radio stations in Mexico and it is founder of the Mexican Alliance of Producers and University Television, which gives the opportunity to offer exclusive shows and events that commercial television does not broadcast. UACJ TV, is one of the cultural channels in the country broadcasting a large number of self-produced shows standing out as an option for those who like an alternative television containing creativity and entertainment in a different way.

Book "Mixtec Stonecutting Artistry / El arte de la cantería mixteca" wins at the Mexico City Architecture Biennale

The book "Mixtec Stonecutting Artistry/ El arte de la cantería mixteca" was awarded with the silver medal as the best publication work within the Second Architecture Biennale of Mexico City. The award was given by the College of Architects in Mexico City and the jury was formed by outstanding practitioners such as Augusto F. Álvarez Fuentes, Eliseo Arredondo González, Gerardo García del Valle y Blanco, Enrique García Formentí, José Grinberg Damashevitzki, Luis Solís Avila. "Mixtec Stonecutting Artistry/ El arte de la cantería mixteca" competed with other eighteen submissions. Honorific mentions were given to other exemplary works such as the book “Alberto J. Pani” by Lourdes Díaz, the book  “Arquitectura pensamiento y creación” by Fernando González Gortázar, and the book “Manuel Cervantes Céspedes cc Arquitectos” by Editorial Arquine. The award ceremony will be celebrated on October 1st during the festivities of the Architect's National Day. We opened in Ciudad Juarez!

I'm very glad to report that the past Wednesday April 22 the Exhibition "Mixtec Stonecutting Artistry" opened in the Puerta Paso del Norte Cultural Center in Cd Juarez, Mexico. Previous to the exhibition opening, Prof. Ibarra delivered a lecture within the "Cátedra Cumex, Carlos Chanfón Olmos" which is a national meeting about architecture hosted this year by the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez. Hundreds of students and faculty were at the opening event. Check out the gallery in this website and see the exhibit in this setting.
